Climb upstairs for alfresco terrace bevvies or descend into the polished Velvet Underground lounge for a cocktail session.Pronounced 'beech-um', the ground floor bar is decked out in wall-to-wall wood and is dotted with comfortable chocolate couches and ottomans. Weekends see substantial crowds pour into the street level bar. Warmer nights are perhaps best spent in the second-floor courtyard, if you can get in early enough to secure yourself a table. Downstairs in the basement, you'll find the appropriately named Velvet Underground bar. Plush red velvet seating, luxe designer wallpaper and cushioning have turned this spot into a decadent lounge for cocktails and intimate chats. Try the Quintessential, which blends 42 Below passionfruit vodka with vanilla, elderflower cordial and white cranberry juice. There's also a range of bar snacks, so you can nibble your way through a mezze plate while chilling out to the DJ's soulful house sounds.

    Ducked in here for a quick bite in the heat of Sydney's MG Parade. Given the festivities, the place was pretty lively. The food took a while to come out & was relatively mediocre but the staff were very friendly. Definitely best left as a pub to avoid any disappointment.

    I hosted a social gathering for my friends with circa 50pa in the upstairs bar and terrace. Claude, Eddie and all the staff were so helpful and the food and service was excellent . Couldn't have asked for a better venue to engage and socialise with my best friends.

    Nice clean local hotel. Meals are great and very reasonable. Staff are attentive and happy to oblige with any order. Great location close to St Vincent's hospital for visitors or staff.
